Hello friends and loyal supporters!

Well, it's been about a quarter since my last communique, so I figured it was time to check in.  Maybe now you all will stop harassing me!

On with the announcements!

Now Playing

It depends what you mean by "Truth": This weekend, you can catch me in Boston Theatre Works' Unbound Festival at the Boston Center for the Arts.  The festival runs Thursday thru Sunday, but the piece I'm in, Truth and Beauty by Steven Drukman, plays only twice: Thu Jul 13 at 8pm and Sun Jul 16 at 2pm.  The productions are all staged readings of full-length new plays, so no fancy sets and costumes, but no fancy ticket prices either.  Tickets are free, with a suggested donation of $10 for one play or $15 for a pass to everything in the festival (donations are "happily accepted, but not required").

Truth and Beauty follows the lives of five friends trying to find love, happiness, and purpose in the world, while things like status, money, and the "truth" get in the way.  The piece is directed by Jeremy Johnson, and stars Barlow Adamson, Alex Zeilke, Thomas Martin, and Susan Rice.  For added fun, my character gets to be a little looney (no cracks!).  Check out Boston Theatre Works' website for full details.

Speaking of Looney: The Madness returns!  I'll be back into everyone's favorite hair-salon whodunit, Shear Madness, August 1 - 13.  Performances are Tuesdays thru Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 6pm and 9pm, and Sundays at 3pm and 7:30pm.  Shows are at the Charles Playhouse (in the Theater District, just behind the Shubert Theatre).  Tickets are $38 each (but you can often get half-priced tickets on the day of the show at BosTix).  Check out the website or call the box office (617/426-5225) for information, directions, and to reserve tickets.

What's Been Going On

Well, June felt like the month of a thousand auditions (it was probably only about twenty, but still) but May was much more fun: I got to shoot a movie!  On Broadway, written by local-boy-made-good Dave McLauglin, tells the pseudo-autobiographical story of a regular guy who gets inspired to write a play about his Boston Irish family, and then stages it in the back of the Burren pub.  The film stars Joey McIntyre (yes, from New Kids on the Block) and Eliza Dushku (yes, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer), with hilarious appearances by Will Arnett (from Arrested Development) and Amy Poehler (of Saturday Night Live fame), among many, many others.  It was a blast to work on and I was sad when the shoot was done.  The film is now in post-production, and I imagine will be released next year.  I'll keep you posted.  In the meantime, you can see the ever-growing list of credits I've got at IMDB!

Also, at this point, I can optimistically project that kortneyadams.com will be online in August 2006!  Last month, I began the enlightening/frustrating process of teaching myself HTML and CSS and building my website from scratch.  It's coming along at a snail's pace (now I know why web designers charge so much!) but progress is being made.  Don't worry: you all will be the first to know when it's live!

That's it for this edition.  Thanks for reading and thanks, as always, for your support!

Best,
Kortney Adams
